The handset will come with Android 2.1 OS in India and there is no info about the an update to FroYo or 2.2 at this point

The Desire will be available in India at an Market Operating Price of Rs.28900 at all HTC dealers across the country. Tata Docomo Postpaidcustomers can buy the handset and get free 500 MB data usage every month for 6 months
